Welcome to SnakeMorphs.com!Hi! My name is Randy Remington. I'm a small snake hobbyist in Colorado working exclusively with ball pythons with the hopes of eventually producing several ball python morphs. I'm taking the long but inexpensive route of trying to reproduce recessive ball python morphs starting with heterozygous or in most cases only possible heterozygous males. My first ball python clutch hatched in 2000 but I had bred several other species of snake before (mainly corn snakes and boa constrictors) . I actually had a couple of albino 25% chance het Jolliff axanthic eggs for 2003 but, apparently due to incubation problems, the babies didn't survive. I realize the irony of being a site dedicated to ball python morphs when I don't actually have any visible morphs yet, but hey, a guy has to start somewhere. I did produce a classic jungle in 2002 but I doubt this is genetic so I'm not considering it a morph. I also stumbled on a SLIGHTLY mojave looking female at a pet store. I don't think she is a mojave but of course I would be very happy if I can get her to breed and her appearance is in some way inheritable. I tried unsuccessfully to get her to produce eggs in 2002 and 2003 and she has been on a breeding loan since 2004 but still no eggs. Maybe for 2006 she will finally be ready. Of my projects with proven genetic mutations, odds are that about half of them will not pan out since I'm using 50% chance het males. However, I'm starting to see some progress toward finding out which ones will work for me. My 50% chance het genetic striped has three daughters from 2002 and they are out on a breeding loan to a homozygous striped male. I have a chance at piebald this year (50% chance het X 25% chance het and even 25% chance het X 25% chance het - both with the belly mark). I even picked up a 50% chance het clown that has been with a friend's pet female to possibly start that project off by producing some 25% chance het females.
Breaking News @ SnakeMorphs.comIn 2003 I got this "Silver Ghost" looking imported jewel in. Follow this link for pictures. She has been off on a breeding loan since 2004 and is hopefully big enough to produce this year. Old data but here is a link to a series of pages on my 2003 Clutch's. For 2006 my only in house project is the possible het pieds mentioned above. If I get eggs I'll post pages. The majority of my females are out on breeding loans to genetically more interesting males than I have. If eggs are produced I'll see if the loan partners mind my posting pages about the clutches.
